Any level, from complete beginner to intermediate. The most common starting point is "I tried tutorials and gave up", and that is not a problem, it is exactly why the course exists. I adapt the content to what you already know.

Is the course one to one or a group class?

The course is one to one, but you can also come with a friend, in which case the price goes down for both of you.

Where does the course take place?

In Bucharest, Sector 2. I send you the exact address once your booking is confirmed.

What do I need to bring with me?

Nothing is required, but do bring the products and brushes you currently use, including the ones you are unsure about or have never used: your kit is the first thing we look at. Come with clean skin and no makeup on.

Do we work with my products or yours?

Both. You practise on my professional products and brushes, so you can try textures and shades before spending money on them. At the start we look at what your kit holds, and at the end I give you the verdict: what works, what has expired, what does not suit you and what is worth replacing. You do not need to buy anything beforehand.

What do I receive at the end of the course?

Your personalised makeup chart, with your face morphology, skin tone, undertone, face corrections and the colours that suit you, plus recommendations for products that are right for you. And, in general, everything we discuss during the course, including how to clean your brushes properly. With the full course you also receive a PDF with study materials, a certificate of participation and a gift from me.

What is the difference between the single session and the full course?

The single session covers one makeup style, day or evening, in one day. The full course adds a second day where you apply everything start to finish yourself and I only correct, plus the second eye makeup style, the PDF, the certificate and a gift. If this is your first time doing makeup properly, the full course is the one that gives you time to practise with me there.

Can the course be taught in English?

Yes. The course is taught in English or Romanian, whichever you are more comfortable with. Let me know which you prefer when you book.

Is a deposit required, and what happens if I cancel?

Yes, a deposit of 30 to 40% of the course value, the same as for my other services. The deposit holds the day for you alone, I take nobody else in that slot, and it comes off the course price, so it is not an extra cost. If you cancel, the deposit is not returned, but we can reschedule, if there is availability and you let me know in good time, not at the last minute.

Can the course take place at the weekend?

Yes, subject to availability. During wedding season, though, availability is lower, as I am busy with bridal and event makeup. The easiest way is to message me directly, so I can confirm a free date for you.

What if I cannot get it right?

We do not move on to the next step until the current one works. The course is built on repetition with me next to you, precisely so that you do not go home with a result you cannot reproduce on your own. If one particular step gives you trouble, we spend more time on it and drop something else that matters less to you.

A tutorial is filmed on a different face, in different light, and often with a filter over it. You did not fail, you followed instructions written for somebody else.

This self-makeup course starts from your face, not from mine. We work until the movements become yours, and at the end I want you to look in the mirror and recognise your own beauty, not see a made-up version of someone else.

How the course works, step by step

We sit face to face at the mirror. Nobody else is in the room, nobody is in a hurry, and you never have to pretend you understood something you did not. You can ask the same question three times.

We start from your face and your kit

Before any product comes out, we look together at your eye shape, your face structure, your skin tone and skin type. I explain what each one means, so you understand why one technique works on you and another does not. Without this step, any tutorial is guesswork. Then we open your kit and look at what you have, so I know what you work with at home and so you have something to compare against a few hours later.
I demonstrate on one half of your face

I work step by step on a single side, explaining every movement, every brush and every product, in the order it goes on. Throughout, you have the result and the starting point side by side in the mirror.
You recreate it on the other

You repeat the same steps on the untouched side, with me next to you. This is where we fix what no tutorial can fix: how you hold the brush, how much pressure you apply, at what angle. We repeat until it works, not until the hour runs out. Nobody is watching you and nobody is waiting for you to move on.
We look at the two halves together

With both sides finished, we sit and compare: what came out differently, why, what you prefer about your own version. You make the calls, I only tell you what I see. This is where the thing women actually come to me for happens: you realise, looking in the mirror, that the half your own hand did has actually taken shape.
We come back to your kit and I leave you something to practise

At the end we look over your products again: what works, what has expired, what does not suit you and what is worth replacing. You practise on professional products, but you go home able to recreate everything with what you already own, plus two or three specific things to practise over the following week. The hand is built through repetition, not in a single day, and needing a few attempts is normal.

Who teaches you

I am Madalina Sora, a professional makeup artist in Bucharest for over five years. I have done makeup for brides on their wedding day, for women heading to events and for models before photoshoots. I teach self-makeup because I want every woman to be able to have those 30 minutes just for herself. To know what to do, what suits her, and to be able to do her own makeup with confidence.
