Photoshoot makeup is a form of artistic expression: sometimes minimalist, sometimes conceptual or avant-garde, but always executed with precision and attention to detail. The camera sees differently than the naked eye, and the makeup has to be built specifically for it.

I am Madalina Sora, a makeup artist in Bucharest, and I regularly work alongside professional photographers on portrait, fashion, personal branding and editorial shoots. At my Sector 2 studio or directly on set, I prepare looks that translate the concept of the shoot into memorable images.

Working with your photographer and the shoot concept

Every successful shoot starts with a three-way conversation: you, the photographer and me. We align the makeup with the light being used (natural, flash or continuous), with the color palette of the styling and with the mood the photographer is after. If you have a moodboard, together we turn it into concrete choices of textures and shades. And if you do not have a photographer yet, I can recommend trusted partners I work with regularly.

I am equally comfortable working in the studio, with controlled light, and on outdoor locations, where the light changes from one frame to the next. I always bring my full kit, so we can adjust the makeup on the spot, between sets, without losing shoot time.

HD makeup that looks great on camera

On camera, details become ten times more visible: pores, shine, harsh edges. That is why I use HD makeup techniques: higher intensity than everyday makeup, precise contouring, matte or satin textures that do not reflect the flash, and thin layers that look like skin, not like a mask. The result is a flawless complexion in close-ups, with far less retouching needed in post-production.

Makeup styles for photo shoots

I adapt the makeup to the type of shoot:

  • Editorial and avant-garde: graphic lines, bold color or artistic concepts for magazines and creative projects.
  • Clean beauty: perfect skin, defined brows and natural shades for skincare campaigns or close-up portraits.
  • Fashion and lookbook: makeup that supports the clothes, coordinated with the styling and the set lighting.
  • Personal branding and LinkedIn: a professional, polished, natural look that inspires confidence in business photos.
  • Couple or family shoots: fresh, luminous makeup that looks natural in candid frames, outdoors or in the studio.

Touch-ups during the shoot

For longer shoots I can stay on set for touch-ups: mattifying the skin between frames, refreshing the lips or a complete look change between concepts. This is also where we plan transitions: from a natural look for portraits to an intense one for evening frames, within the same session. We decide together, before the shoot, how much time we need.
